Here Are The Perks That Could Get British Office Workers To Return To The Office

Management solutions firm Emburse revealed the findings of its YouGov survey of British office workers, providing insight into how changing attitudes will impact the future of work.

The survey received responses from 1,000 British workers to gain an understanding of what professionals want from the workplace, and what factors could entice them to return to the office full-time.

Of the 724 office workers, 68% said they would consider returning to the office if their transportation costs were completely covered. However, 27% stated they would not return even if their employer covered these costs.

The research showed a divide between those who are tempted by covered transportation costs: workers between 35 to 44 were most tempted by this offer, while those over 55 were least interested.

The top incentives that would bring workers back into the office full-time included:

  • Four-day workweek with the same number of daily work hours (59%)
  • Fully paid commute (52%)
  • Increase in paid holidays (51%)
  • Paid in-office lunch (30%)
  • Lunch reimbursement (24%
  • Paid childcare services (14%)

“The impacts of COVID and the Great Resignation mean that companies need to be more employee-centric in their approach, and humanising the workplace has never been more important,” said Kenny Eon, general manager and senior vice president of EMEA at Emburse.  “Whilst working remotely is certainly convenient for employees, there are clear benefits of having in-person interactions, as well as the cultural importance of bringing teams together.”
