Work-life balance became one of the largest priorities for workers in 2022, and the new year will usher in an era where companies will continue to undergo major changes to accommodate new needs of the workforce.
Among the biggest changes coming to the workplace is the cultural transition to finding satisfaction both within and without work. Rather than basing worth on their work, professionals will measure success based on their own wellbeing.
“It’s really looking at employees more holistically,” said Christine Spadafor, CEO of management consulting firm SpadaforClay Group.
“It’s not just thinking about the work that they do, but rather thinking about their financial well-being, their social well-being meaning with friends and family, their physical well-being and what’s gotten a lot of attention, and understandably so, is your mental health well-being, as well.”
Stability will play a significant role in achieving a healthy work-life balance. After the Great Reshuffle’s impact, workers want more security, but still aren’t willing to opt for just any job that pays the bills.
For leaders to entice workers, they need to offer the total package: good pay, benefits and acknowledgement of worker preferences.
However, in order for employers to retain their workers, this will take sacrificing the workplace of the past. This means leaders should embrace flexibility, trust employees and lead by example when it comes to nurturing their own lives.
