According to Reuters, this deceleration in job growth can be attributed to several factors. One is the Federal Reserve’s decision to raise interest rates by 525 basis points since March 2022. This move has had a cascading effect on the labor market, causing it to adjust and slow down. Additionally, government data that was released this week revealed that the ratio of job openings to unemployed individuals dropped to 1.51 in July, the lowest level since September 2021, according to another Reuters report.Â
