Virgin Voyages is introducing a unique offering that aims to capitalize on the rapid rise of digital nomads around the world.
According to a report published by tech.co, the major cruise line is launching what it calls the “Scarlet Summer Season Pass,” a month-long “Work from Cruise” package designed specifically for digital nomads. The unique offering combines the amenities of a luxury cruise line with services that remote workers require to do their jobs — including high-speed Wi-Fi, which the cruise provides through Starlink PRO Wi-Fi.
The Scarlet Summer Season Pass offers guests the opportunity to spend a month sailing and working onboard one of Virgin Voyage’s cruise ships, the Scarlet Lady. On board, the passengers can sign-up for group yoga and HIIT classes, daily coffee credits, and an in-house laundry service, all while working from the coastline of Southern Europe.
Virgin Voyages’ move into the digital nomad markets follows the growing trend of companies catering digital nomads. The economic benefit of international remote workers is reflected in the number of countries currently offering digital nomad visas. Over 60 countries now offer digital nomad visas, including Barbados, Peru, Canada, Spain, and Japan, among many others. Virgin Voyages distinguishes itself as one of the first major commercial cruise lines to offer a remote worker-focused package of this scale.
The launch of the Scarlet Summer Season Pass reflects a growing acceptance of remote work and a desire for greater work-life balance among professionals around the world. As more workers embrace the digital nomad lifestyle, the demand for flexible travel options that accommodate work commitments could rise.
