92% Of Employees Are Job Hunting During Work Hours

The data shows that modern workers are rethinking how they spend their time, and many are using their current jobs to find their next ones.

A new report from Resume Now reveals that 92% of employees are looking for new jobs while still on the clock at their current ones.

The report showed wasting time at work is common, regardless of work location.

According to the report, remote workers were slightly more likely to waste time at 43%, compared to 37% of those working in physical office settings. Some admitted to pretending to be on phone calls or scheduling fake meetings just to avoid tasks.

Only 12% of respondents said they never fake productivity.

Many Are Updating Resumes on Company Time

In addition to faking work, a large share of employees are actively preparing to leave their current roles. About 24% have updated their resumes during work hours, while 23% said they have used work computers to apply for new jobs.

The reasons range from a desire for more meaningful work to frustration with current workplace policies or leadership changes.

A Signal of Widespread Job Dissatisfaction

The findings suggest growing dissatisfaction among workers. Many are seeking higher pay, better work-life balance, or more engaging roles. Experts note that being employed gives job seekers leverage and that many companies will need to adapt by offering competitive benefits or investing in automation to reduce turnover, according to Newsweek.

The data shows that modern workers are rethinking how they spend their time, and many are using their current jobs to find their next ones.
