In another blow to potential job growth, Google CEO Sundar Pichai sent an email that confirms the company will slow its hiring down.
This news comes as the global economy braces for an incoming recession, which has forced many tech giants to either freeze their hiring efforts or even conduct layoffs.
While Pichai ensures that Google will continue to hire new talent, it will focus on engineering and other technical roles.
“We need to be more entrepreneurial, working with greater urgency, sharper focus and more hunger than we’ve shown on sunnier days,” said Pichai.
Interest rates and inflation have continued to climb, leading business leaders to take various strategies to recession-proof their operations.
“There has been an enormous amount of pessimism in recent months,” Kristina Hooper, chief global market strategist at Invesco.
