Like it or not, new salary transparency laws are creeping their way across the U.S.
Colorado and New York are among a growing number of states and cities that will soon require businesses to list salary ranges on job adverts.
Among them, in 2023, California will require companies with 15 or more employees to reveal salary information in job listings. Business must also provide the pay scale to an employee for the job they currently hold, upon request.
It’s expected to be just a matter of time before listing salary ranges on job ads becomes the norm.
While some people may feel uncomfortable about making their salary public, it’s a positive step forward, as experts say it could help close wage gaps across gender, racial and LGBTQ identities.
