Workable Becomes First African Coworking Operator To Earn WELL Coworking Rating

Workable's Nairobi workspace became the first in Africa to receive the WELL Coworking Rating for health and well-being.

Workable has become the first flexible workspace operator in Africa to receive the WELL Coworking Rating, marking a milestone for the continent’s coworking industry, according to Yahoo Finance.

The certification applies to the company’s Nairobi, Kenya location and recognizes workplace features designed to support occupant health and well-being.

Developed by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) in partnership with The Instant Group, the WELL Coworking Rating is the first certification created specifically for coworking spaces. It evaluates workplaces across categories including indoor air and water quality, lighting, comfort, fitness, and mental well-being.

The certification reflects a growing focus on health and wellness standards in flexible workspaces as companies increasingly consider employee well-being and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals when selecting office space.

Growing Focus on Certified Flexible Workspaces

Workable said the recognition builds on its existing sustainability efforts, including its EDGE certification for resource-efficient building design.

The achievement also highlights increasing adoption of internationally recognized workplace standards within Africa’s flexible workspace sector as operators look to differentiate their offerings through health, sustainability, and workplace experience.
