LinkedIn has updated its recruitment tool to help boost DE&I (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) initiatives.
Now, LinkedIn recruiters will receive “Diversity Nudges” when they are not receiving a more diverse candidate pool.
“If gender representation in a given talent pool is unbalanced, a notification will pop up to let you know the Male/Female ratio of that search,” the company shared.
“You’ll also receive recommendations of Skills, Locations, and Companies filters you can add to your search to improve the gender balance. For example, if you’re hiring for an electrical engineer, Diversity Nudges might suggest adding skills such as data analysis, analytical skills, and Simulink to increase the number of women electrical engineers in your candidate search.”
While seeking a good candidate should solely be based on merit, oftentimes women and others from marginalized communities get overlooked in crowded fields, leading to less opportunities for these qualified candidates.
The tool doesn’t necessarily make people apply to a company, but it can broaden a recruiter’s perspective and lead them to alter how they recruit.
The company will also start hosting free courses covering DE&I efforts for members. Topics will range from management guidance, recruitment tactics, work culture and more.
Along with the DE&I tool, LinkedIn is incorporating a new section on company pages that will allow businesses to highlight their values and social commitments, such as climate pledges, flexible work policies, and more.
