Automotive giant Volkswagen has revealed it will extend its work-from-home policy, allowing employees to choose four or five days each month to work in the office.
The company has implemented some form of workplace flexibility since 2016, with workers being able to work outside of the office for up to four days a week.
“The future of work at Volkswagen will be hybrid,” said Gunnar Kilian, the board member in charge of personnel at Volkswagen. “The extension creates a balance between ‘mobile work’ and the essential interaction between colleagues at the office as we move through the industry’s transformation.”
Currently, Volkswagen has around 100,000 employees in Germany and around half have worked from home since the beginning of lockdown. After some restrictions were lifted in September, the company made returning to the office optional.
