Upwork has announced a new partnership with portable benefits program Catch that aims to give freelancers using Upwork’s services access to healthcare benefits and personal payroll.

According to recent Upwork research, 36% of the U.S. workforce freelanced last year, indicating a need for more benefits for these workers, as well as a process that makes it easy to manage such benefits.

Catch’s services allow freelancers, contractors, and independent workers a way to access personal payroll, allowing them to easily handle health insurance costs, automatic tax withholding, retirement investing services, and more.

“This partnership between Upwork and Catch is in service of enabling freelancers to do the work they love without worrying about the complexity of securing their benefits and finances,” said Sam Bright, chief product and experience officer at Upwork. “With Catch and our other talent offering partnerships, we aim to empower highly skilled professionals to stay laser-focused on their careers and business opportunities.”
