In a continued effort to address flexible workspace demands, IWG has teamed up with the UK’s largest grocery chain.

IWG will transform excess space at the Tesco Extra Store in New Malden, South London, where it will take up 3,800 square feet to incorporate 30 coworking spaces, 12 desks, and a meeting room.

Nexudus - Is Your Space Performing?

Despite many companies ushering their workers back into the office, the need for an alternative solution remains strong as workers gain newfound flexibility in their work schedules.

Because of this, many have found the need for a workspace that is not quite their homes, yet not their employer’s headquarters.

“People don’t want to spend hours commuting every day and instead want to live and work in their local communities,” said Mark Dixon, CEO of IWG. “A Tesco Extra in a suburban location, in the middle of a vibrant local community, is the perfect location for flexible-office space.”

IWG has not specified how many of these in-store work hubs are expected, but it did say it has plans to add 1,000 new locations this year.

Retailers like Tesco have opted to incorporate workspaces to take up vacant space with the hope of encouraging people to come into their stores, particularly as online ordering and curbside pickup remain a mainstay.
