Apple has signed a new lease that will bring its Sunnyvale, California footprint to over 800,000 square feet.
The tech giant will take up a newly built campus — the Mathilda Commons office complex — that includes two four-story buildings totaling 382,500 square feet.
Mathilda Commons began construction in 2019 and was completed in September of 2021. The campus also features a fitness center over 15,000 square feet, rooftop terrace, and parking structure.
Each building also comes equipped with air filters and touchless entry access in an effort to create a healthier work environment.
Currently, Apple employees are in work arrangement limbo following the company’s decision to pause its three-day office-return requirement due to a spike in Covid cases.
However, delaying this policy also followed employee backlash, who opposed being required to return to the office. The forced return led an internal group called Apple Together to publish a letter to the firm’s executives encouraging a more flexible work policy.
