75% Of UK Workers Believe Hybrid Models Can Keep Them Afloat During Economic Uncertainty

A new study shows that hybrid work models can help employees weather a potential recession.

The research from software firm Greenhouse shows that 75% of professionals in the UK believe that a hybrid work arrangement has helped them save money due to not needing daily commutes, childcare services and eating out.

For these professionals, operating under this type of model has become incredibly more valuable than other benefits, such as wages.

“Notably, the research is showing that employees feel that flexible working options should be considered in the face of a cost of living crisis, if not, companies may lose out on talent,” said Colm O’Cuinneain, general manager at Greenhouse EMEA.

Workers increasingly believe that it is the responsibility of their employer to provide extra support during these tumultuous times.

With Covid still playing a prominent part in society, inflation rising to record-high levels and wages remaining somewhat stagnant, workers want — and need — to know that their livelihood and wellbeing are not in jeopardy.

“In the UK, there is a lot of uncertainty because, on the one hand, the labor market is still quite competitive and, on the other hand, people are understandably concerned about what a recession may mean for job security,” said O’Cuinneain.
