What if workers were located within just a short walk of every basic human need?
IWG thinks this is where the future lies and is preparing to launch a new Austin coworking space in collaboration with retail estate company Simon next year in preparation of this.
Spaces The Domain, expected to open in 2023, will feature all the amenities IWG coworking brands are known for, but with the added perk of being within a shopping mall that is in close proximity to a huge selection of retail and food options.
In addition to having access to a classic coworking space, members of Spaces The Domain will also be able to tap into 20 different dining options, over 100 retail spaces and up to 5,000 residential units.
“More and more workers want to live in a 15-minute city – where everything they need, including where they work, is within 15 minutes of their home. Locations like Spaces The Domain meet that demand,” said Mark Dixon, CEO of IWG.
“As the popularity of hybrid working continues to accelerate, we will continue to rapidly expand across the U.S., including at a large number of retail sites.”
The combination of retail and coworking has emerged as a match made in heaven during the post-pandemic era. The entire real estate industry has begun to lean on one another to stay afloat during economic uncertainty, further popularizing mixed-use spaces like Spaces The Domain.
IWG is pushing forward with this strategy and has a goal of opening 500 locations across the U.S. in the next year— with 90% being allocated for partnerships.
