A recent Twitter poll has led to the end of an era.   

After asking users whether he should step down as CEO in the online poll, Elon Musk says he is now seeking a replacement for “someone foolish enough to take the job!”

Although the billionaire is expected to relinquish the title to someone else, he will still own the social media platform and plans to work on Twitter’s software and server teams. 

This move comes after months of intense backlash.

Musk took over the company in a $44 billion deal last October, taking the company private and shielding its standing from the public. 

Since taking over Twitter, Musk has single-handedly altered much of the company’s operations, including firing thousands of employees and nixing remote work policies. 

It is uncertain who would want to take over the company after Musk’s short-lived reign, but a change of face could help bring advertisers and users back to the platform.
