Imagining a workplace that is both trendy, stylish, and sustainable is hard to believe, but over the past few years, collaborative designs geared to freelancers have become an integral focus for many office spaces throughout many industries.
Now, niche coworking spaces such as The Wing and AllBright Club have taken this workplace shift to the next level by honing in on empowering female freelancers and entrepreneurs.
While coworking predominantly consists of the technology and media fields, the beauty industry is making a big splash in the market. Many coworking spaces have opened in London that cater to hairdressers, nail technicians, barbers, and more.
Monique Tomlinson, director and general manager of afro hair and beauty center The Palms Peckham, said that coworking is a great tool for female empowerment since it allows businesses to become more sustainable.
Coworking has allowed her to create a supportive community for female beauty professionals who struggle in the sometimes isolating field.
“I will work tirelessly to make sure that the place is constantly full and the women are always busy and can become financially independent,” said Tomlinson.
