Coworking operators have started catering to a wide variety of audiences, from the cannabis industry to female professionals. Niche coworking spaces are increasingly emerging as the industry is expected to continue doubling year-on-year.
One of the biggest niche trends has been the inclusion of childcare facilities within coworking spaces in order to better support working parents.
Additionally, operators have started opening up workspaces in underused spaces such as restaurants, hotels and more. For example, Village Underground in Lisbon offers eco-friendly spaces made from refurbished shipping containers and double-decker buses.
Investments into niche spaces have also grown over the past year. For example, female-focused coworking company The Wing has already received $117 million in investor funding.
As coworking competition continues to grow, it is clear that niche offerings are key in becoming a sustainable company that attracts and retains new members.
