Music streaming company Spotify has announced that it will implement a “work from anywhere” policy starting this summer.
The new program called “My Work Mode” will allow staffers to choose whether they want to work full-time from home, the office or a combination of both.
Spotify employees will also have more flexibility over which city and country they work from. The company will provide staff with coworking memberships if they want to work outside of Spotify’s offices.
The company added that the pandemic has helped accelerate its plans to become a “distributed-first” company, expand its talent pool and help improve employees’ work-life balance.
This follows a line of other major companies, like Salesforce and Microsoft, who have recently announced that they would be adopting flexible working arrangements in some form.
Like others, the firm said it would be reevaluating its real estate footprint and reconfigure it to better support this hybrid arrangement.
“Work isn’t something you come to the office for, it’s something you do,” the company stated. “Effectiveness can’t be measured by the number of hours people spend in an office – instead, giving people the freedom to choose where they work will boost effectiveness.”
