Hybrid work has been the hot topic of post-pandemic workplace trends. Even the Biden administration recently laid out its principles for the future of federal work, making it clear that normal federal work won’t look the same as it did pre-pandemic.
In the 20-page memo sent out by the Office of Management, Budget and Office of Personnel Management and General Services Administration, the administration made it clear that hybrid work and telework would be expanded.
“Many federal employees will remain primarily or fully onsite or return primarily to onsite work due to the nature of their work, such as delivery of onsite services, support activities in the field, or work with classified information or national-security topics,” the memo states.
Those who have been teleworking during the pandemic will mostly have the opportunity to continue doing so in the future, depending on their situation.
Future arrangements will see employees mixing offsite and onsite work that still support teamwork, operations and other necessities.
Considering that many companies are overly eager to bring their employees back into the office full-time, the government’s actions are relatively progressive in the terms of the future of work.
