There’s been a power shift in the workforce, and leaders are realizing the importance of broadening their hiring efforts and embracing digital transformation.
A new report from management consulting organization alliantgroup touches on how the pandemic has altered companies’ approach to tech hiring, particularly during a time when there is a talent shortage.
“Nearly half of C-suite executives understand that supporting digital transformation projects is critical for their companies to survive in the long-term,” said Dhaval Jadav, CEO of alliantgroup. “However, challenges from finding and keeping technical talent to choosing which technology to either procure or invest in – all while navigating internal bureaucracies – can kill digital transformation projects in their tracks.”
The report showed that 46% of respondents understood the importance of digital transformation for long-term survival. Additionally, 41% stated that “employee resistance” was the top innovation challenge.
Furthermore, around one-quarter of executives stated that IT was their top department for digital transformation efforts over the next two years, with 42% adding that finding top talent was the main factor to push digital transformation efforts.
However, the talent shortage caused by a tight labor market and the Great Resignation have made it difficult to locate and hire new workers.
In order to tap into new talent, 24% of leaders said they planned to invest into community or STEM education programs to help fill their talent pipeline.
