Microsoft has announced it will indefinitely postpone the reopening of its headquarters in Redmond, Washington, as well as its other U.S. offices.
The company has delayed its return-to-office date multiple times over the pandemic, but did not specify exactly when employees should expect to be back in the workplace this time.
Microsoft is one of many companies who is cautiously navigating its office strategies moving forward, especially as Covid-19 cases continue to surge in many parts of the U.S.
Some organizations like Amazon have revealed their intentions to return in January of 2022, but the uncertainty of the health crisis will likely force more companies to indefinitely postpone.
“Given the uncertainty of Covid-19, we’ve decided against attempting to forecast a new date for a full reopening of our U.S. work sites in favor of opening U.S. work sites as soon as we’re able to do so safely based on public health guidance,” said Jared Spataro, a Microsoft corporate vice president.
Spataro added that when the company decides to bring employees back, it will detail a month-long strategy so workers can prepare for the transition.
