Workhuman’s Fall 2021 International Survey reveals what employees will and won’t put up with in the workplace.
In fact, 4 in 10 workers said they planned to look for a new job in the next year, solidifying the fact that the Great Resignation is going to pose a real problem for employers. Even more, the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that quit rates are up 25% since 2017.
After facing one of the most unprecedented recessions and societal disruptions in modern history, professionals are reconsidering what they want and need from their work environment.
One of the biggest demands has been flexibility, with the survey showing that employees wanting more flexibility from their employer was the primary reason for leaving their job.
The survey of over 3,500 employees across Canada, Ireland, the U.S., and the U.K. also showed working parents were among the highest risk of leaving their jobs. Working mothers are particularly feeling the burden of burnout after trying to balance both childcare and work responsibilities.
In order to improve retention rates and attract new talent, the survey suggests that companies utilize better communication, greater psychological safety and appreciate employees more.
