“As a service” technology has permanently shaped everyday functions, from meal delivery kits to entertainment subscriptions. Now, Everything as a Service, or XaaS, is becoming a commercial staple due to demand in increased efficiency and optimized workflow.
Technology-enabled flexible workspaces are a prime example of this. A report from Knight Frank found that flexible offices grew 3,500% over the past decade, with operators like WeWork banking in on the Space as a Service model.
WeWork in particular uses technology to manage their workspaces, provide entrepreneurs with an office and community, and allows smaller companies to avoid making big investments into traditional offices.
Technology is the key factor in supporting coworking spaces, as it allows workers to collaborate from virtually anywhere through tools like Skype, Slack, Google Drive and several others.
Another example of the XaaS impact is Flexe, a firm that allows companies to manage growth and supply chains by sharing production facilities, warehouses and equipment.
