Chicago-based coworking firm Novel Coworking announced it has purchased a 12-story building in downtown Columbia, South Carolina.
The building spans 159,000 square feet and will be the company’s first location in South Carolina.
“Novel Coworking is excited to come to Columbia because of the great progress and vibrancy that has been generated there and all the positive momentum that business professionals in the area have created,” said Bill Bennett, founder. “Columbia, on paper, looks like one of the strongest-growth economies in the future, in our viewpoint.”
Novel sets itself from other large coworking companies by purchasing the spaces it wants to convert into shared offices, rather than leasing them.
Novel’s coworking space will feature private offices, open working spaces, high-speed internet, an espresso bar, local beer on tap and host community events. Furthermore, members at the Columbia location will have access to Novel’s 35 other workspaces across the country.
