WeWork has opened WeWork Food Labs, a flexible workspace catered to food-related entrepreneurs and companies, in New York City.
The new location joins the company’s San Francisco and Austin locations and is home to over 400 businesses.
Companies have access to an R&D kitchen, classroom, tasting table, merchandising area, vertical farming units and more.
It also features a monthly membership that offers startups access to an accelerator program, allowing them a chance at equity investments over a five-month period.
Members are also able to connect to a global community and mentor network with companies from various parts of the food industry, such as technology, distribution software, hospitality and more.
Along with early-stage members, WeWork Food Labs is home to established companies such as Sabra, Baldor Specialty Foods and Food + Tech Connect.
“WeWork Food Labs, which is in close proximity to our Sabra headquarters, allows our plant-based ventures team to engage with entrepreneurial food tech and culinary communities as we develop growth-diving solutions for the plant-based category,” said Tomer Harpaz, CEO of Sabra. “Having space on-site allows us to give back and share what we have learned through experience with those just getting started.”
