Operating a coworking space during these unprecedented times can seem like hitting a brick wall. Now is the time for operators to build up strategies that will prepare them for these difficult circumstances in the future, while keeping employees and members safe.
First, the most important thing to do is to acknowledge the circumstance and let staff and members know it is something you are paying attention to.
Ensuring the wellbeing of your clients and employees is vital, so any step you take should be in their best interest. For instance, if members are working from home, potentially offer them a discount on fees or an extended pay period as it shows that you are keeping in mind their needs during this difficult time.
Communicate to members the steps you are taking to keep them safe, like cleaning and sanitizing common areas such as kitchens, restrooms and meeting rooms. Encourage occupants to follow these practices as well by posting reminders to wash their hands and keeping sanitization products in common areas.
Utilize virtual tools if workers need to stay at home. Resources like Zoom, Facebook Live and others make it easy to still hold meetings, events or conferences while abiding by distancing guidelines.
