Why IT Leaders Need More Than One Solution To Support Hybrid Work

Technology has become a critical component of any workplace, but a new survey shows that IT leaders think current advancements are not enough to support the shift to hybrid work.

According to a new global survey conducted by Gartner Peer Insights on behalf of Citrix Systems, IT leaders believe that the geographic distribution of workers requires a revamp of current technology systems.

Respondents said that in the areas they improved to support remote work, they fell short when it came to:

  • Security risks (96%)
  • Bridging the divide between remote and in-office workers (63%)
  • Offering a consistent user experience (46%)
  • Enabling collaboration (46%)
  • Supporting bring-your-own devices (33%)
  • Scaling and management (25%)

As part of their investment into areas intended to improve the nuances of a hybrid work model, IT leaders said they are heavily relying on virtual private networks (VPN), virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), virtual apps and desktops, and Desktops as a Service.

While VPNs have consistently remained the most common remote work tool, the survey indicates that more than one solution needs to be adopted to fully support remote and hybrid work.

“Hybrid work is the future of work,” said Tim Minahan, executive vice President of strategy at Citrix. “Innovative organizations recognize this and are reimagining the solutions used to support it so they can deliver it today.”
