Panic seems to have set in at Twitter HQ.
Late last night, Elon Musk sent an internal memo to employees, stating that they must be prepared to work “extremely hardcore” or leave the company.
“Going forward, to build a breakthrough Twitter 2.0 and succeed in an increasingly competitive world, we will need to be extremely hardcore,” Musk wrote in the email. “This will mean working long hours at high intensity. Only exceptional performance will constitute a passing grade.”
The memo included a link to an online form, where employees are encouraged to solidify their commitment to Twitter. Those who don’t by 5 p.m. EST on Thursday will receive three months of severance.
The volatile situation at Twitter really kicked off a few weeks ago when Musk took over the company. Since then, he has slashed nearly 50% of jobs, leaving advertisers running for the hills, and eliminated the firm’s remote-first policy to the dismay of the platform’s workers.
