North Carolina has been named America’s Top State for Business in CNBC’s annual competitiveness study for the second consecutive year. The state’s success has been attributed to its strong workforce, robust economy, and significant investments from major corporations.  

Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, and Minnesota round out the top 5 states — in that order, respectively. The rankings are based on a comprehensive evaluation of all 50 states across 86 metrics in 10 broad categories of competitiveness, according to CNBC. These categories are:
