A recent study conducted by OnePoll for CSU Global unveils a troubling statistic: one in four employed Americans fear losing their job within the next year. Â
According to a report published by The New York Post, the study found that 25% of respondents worry about job loss due to market instability and working in precarious sectors. Â
Additionally, 32% of those surveyed fear that their skills are not up-to-date for professional advancement, while over half feel stuck in the same job with outdated skills.Â
Despite these concerns, a significant majority (90%) of workers recognize the importance of learning new skills for career growth — with 74% eager to increase their value to employers. The most sought-after skills for upskilling include leadership, management, planning, and AI comprehension.Â
The study polled 2,000 working adults, revealing the growing concerns over job security and the urgent need for upskilling opportunities within the job market. 82% of participants expressed interest in upskilling opportunities if their job offered them one in the next six months. Â
The study suggests that employers and educational institutions should collaborate to provide greater access to upskilling opportunities in helping workers adapt to the changing demands of labor market.Â
