The Assemblage is the fully realized New York-based coworking space founded by Rodrigo Niño who traveled to Peru when diagnosed with cancer to come to terms with what he thought was inevitable death. He talked to the New York Times about his psychedelic experience after taking ayahuasca, which birthed the idea of The Assemblage.
“What I saw, in this hallucination, was how all living things were connected as one, but we were not aware of it rationally,” Niño said. “We truly need to have a place of convergence for those who understand that there is more than who we are,”
The space is a cross between an office and a spa, with a cafe and plants sprinkled throughout the entire area. Nature is prioritized in the office’s design as it helps with stress and anxiety levels.
The Assemblage currently has two locations in NoMad and the Financial District, with a third on Park Avenue its way. Its interior is filled with a variety of coworking spaces, desks, and office spaces. It hosts programs about a variety of topics — anywhere from grief and sex to blockchains and cryptocurrency.
On another floor, you can find The Alchemy Bar which does not serve alcohol, but provides members with “boosts.”
Members can take a sound bath in the gong room and enjoy an Ayurvedic lunch.
The goal of this space is to create a healthy work/life balance by providing yoga classes, event programming, a variety of workspaces, and even co-living through its memberships.
