A new study by ZenBusiness has found that 1 in 3 employees work overtime “always” or “most of the time.” Additionally, 30% of workers said they complete work tasks at home in order to take on their heavy workload.

As more companies adopt flexibility to provide a better work-life balance, the report finds that employees not paid overtime are experiencing more work-related stress. Those who were compensated for overtime experienced higher job satisfaction.

UltraSoftBIS Work Smarter, Not Harder

The report revealed that employees averaged 8.3 hours of overtime each week, but this fluctuated depending on seniority. Entry-level workers averaged 7.8 hours per week and senior employees averaged 11 hours.

While some managers said they view overtime-working employees as hardworking, 10% said those workers were bad at time management and distracted during normal hours.
