Earlier this month, JLL revealed that it would be consolidating its Houston operation into a single headquarters office at 200 Park Place.
A news release from the firm announced that the newly built location on 4200 Westheimer Road would be reconfiguring its normal strategies in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The company will do so by keeping workstations and private offices distanced and implement boundaries by using storage towers and cabinets. Additionally, break rooms will be built out larger in order to provide workers more room to congregate in a safe manner.
This move is one that has been echoed all across the office industry as building owners and operators alike have had to adjust their methods over the last several months.
Last May, Houston-based property owner Hines released a guidebook that outlined step-by-step how to protect the safety and health of tenants when they come back into the office.
This included installing hand sanitizer stations, signage to encourage 6-foot distancing, increasing cleaning protocols and requiring workers to wear face masks.
“There’s really not one solution that is going to work for every space or work environment. The goal is to do what is best for people as a whole,” said James Wise, design manager at Houston-based Powers Brown Architecture. “We all want to get back to normal, but we want to do it in a way that ensures safety.”
