NAPA VALLEY, CALIF. (FEB. 22, 2021) – Spaces, part of IWG (LSE:IWG), the world’s largest flexible workspace company, announced the launch of a new concept at Spaces Napa Valley, California. Created in direct response to the growing demand for flexible workplace solutions accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic, IWG has introduced a new concept exclusively in retail locations, putting world-class flexible work-space facilities at employees’ doorsteps, reducing their commutes and providing a better work-life balance.
“In the wake of the global pandemic, the world of work has undergone a wholesale evolution,” IWG Founder and CEO Mark Dixon said. “While employees have wanted the ability to work remotely in recent years, many still want to return to an office environment at least part of the time. The pandemic has shown how employees can be productive and efficient in this changing model, and we are already seeing significant shifts in work policies that will allow a hybrid workplace model going forward. Since founding IWG more than 30 years ago, we have been at the forefront of global workspace trends and are looking forward to introducing our latest innovation with the launch of Spaces Napa, the first of several locations that will help utilize existing retail space while empowering a new generation of hybrid workers.”
Spaces is the first flexible workspace brand to conceptualize and launch a retail-focused model set in mixed-use locations in suburban and rural markets. The concept is designed to have universal appeal and will resonate with all workers from entrepreneurs to enterprises and independent contractors, who may visit a central headquarters for meetings and events while working some of the time from home or at regional offices nearby.
Spaces Napa offers a secure, safe and green space designed to meet the needs of any worker, including private work spaces, available 24/7 or on-demand during business hours, and meeting rooms. It also provides the ability for any worker to have a functional virtual office, in a beautifully designed, sustainable work environment that uses recycled materials and provides adjustable furniture that can adapt to a variety of needs—all centered in a location that accommodates a blending live/work/play environment.
Spaces Napa will open later in February, designed with social distancing and COVID-19 compliant local and state safety regulations in mind, including health screenings upon entry, customizable individual workstations, social distancing built into the design, one-way passages, flexible memberships and scheduling, advanced digital, multimedia and technology capabilities with branded PPE.
The state-of-the-art, 21,000-square-foot facility is at First Street Napa, developed by Zapolski Real Estate and Trademark Property, a new premium retail complex at the center of Napa’s redefined Downtown corridor. The location will include 105 socially distanced work spaces along with seven meeting rooms available for rent on a flexible, daily or monthly basis, all within walking distance to upscale shopping and services.
IWG and its family of brands, including Spaces, Regus, HQ and No18, have seen a surge in demand for office spaces in secondary and tertiary markets since the onset of COVID-19. That demand is fueled by employees’ increased desire for options that allow them to work in more convenient locations to match their lifestyles – and changing corporate policies that allow for more flexibility.
“Like many other major cities, an influx of residents moved from the Bay Area during the pandemic, and Silicon Valley companies responded quickly by committing to long-term remote and hybrid work models,” said Wayne Berger, CEO, The Americas at IWG. “Based on the local demand and availability of prime, centralized retail space, we knew Napa was the ideal location to launch our new concept. This shift will infuse new life to suburban and rural areas, bringing a multitude of benefits to companies and employees alike.”
IWG will launch several new Spaces locations in 2021, including Barcelona, Amsterdam and London.
