A new survey from McKinsey shows that 58% of US workers currently can work wherever they want at least once a week.
The report suggests what experts have been predicting for years: flexibility is the future of work.
For 35% of respondents, this means being able to work remotely up to five days a week as companies accept the role that workplace agility can play in productivity, recruitment, and retention.
Since receiving this newfound freedom, 87% said they spend an average of three days working from home.
This group mostly includes those who have higher education and income. Additionally, men were found to receive more remote working opportunities at 61% compared to 52% of women.
“After more than two years of observing remote work and predicting that flexible working would endure after the acute phases of the COVID-19 pandemic, we view these data as a confirmation that there has been a major shift in the working world and in society itself,” the report states.
