SHANGHAI, November 29, 2022 — Peace, the world’s first Privacy On Demand service, today announced the launch of its service in partnership with some of Asia’s top real estate companies including Swire Properties, HKRI, Tishman Speyer, Lujiazui Group, and Henderson Land. Peace announced that it will grow its network of Peace Pod locations very quickly, launching new locations every week. Locations will include shopping malls, repurposed retail spaces, office building lobbies, urban renewal spaces, transportation hubs, exhibition centers, and residential developments.
“Everyone needs peace and quiet, from time to time. Peace is a fundamental human need, linked to extremely important things like mental health and innovation. Yet, people living in cities have almost no peaceful, private space. Worse, humanity has become habituated to this lack of privacy. Peace is the solution. Peace is the missing link in urban design. Peace is the must-have ‘last meter’ of the best city design for the Future of Mobility, Future of Work, and Future of Cities. The Peace movement is absolutely delighted that some of the world’s most influential real estate companies have partnered with us to bring Peace to the world.
Together we are on a mission to change the world, literally and physically, by creating Privacy On Demand. We are fascinated by the possibilities of undoing the chronic lack of privacy, with potentially profound implications for mental health, wellness, social harmony, productivity, and innovation,” said Dominic Penaloza, Peace’s founder and CEO.
Peace’s first product is the Peace Pod, a private, soundproof, 3.5 square meter portable pod seating up to four people with powerful ventilation, anti-Covid-19 air cleaning technology, equipped with a proprietary Internet-of-Things system including smart lock, QR code scanner, and smart WIFI, lights, electric sockets, sound speakers with fully integrated Peace WeChat miniprogram that makes it very easy to locate Peace Pods and book in advance.
Peace Pods have launched, or are in the process of launching, in the following buildings:
HKRI Taikoo Hui is a large-scale mixed-use commercial property, re-energising the prominent Nanjing Road (West) Central Business District in Jing’an District, Shanghai. With a total investment of close to RMB 18 billion and gross floor area of approximately 322,000 square meters, the project encompasses a premium shopping mall, two Grade-A office towers (HKRI Centres 1 and 2), two boutique hotels, and a serviced apartment building.
Grand Gateway 66 includes a shopping mall at the base of two 52-story office towers with over 100,000 square meters of retail and entertainment space. Grand Gateway 66’s premium location above Xujiahui subway station enjoys seamless connectivity with Metro Line 1, Line 9 and Line 11.
Crystal Plaza is located in the heart of the New Bund, an emerging business center in Pudong. The project consists of six office towers 80 to 120 meters tall and six residential towers situated on the southern-most parcel. Positioned like crystals in a garden, the office towers rise atop a podium interlaced by a network of pedestrian axes, encircling an open, multifaceted urban plaza that houses retail and amenity activity on multiple levels.
Henderson Metropolitan is located at the junction of Middle Henan and Nanjing Road East pedestrian avenue in Shanghai. As one of the landmark buildings on the pedestrian avenue, Henderson Metropolitan leads the new trend of Nanjing Road with its five advantages of superior location, convenient transportation, design by famous designers, excellent service and fashionable flagship store. The project has 24 floors (including two basement floors), including a 9-story comprehensive shopping mall of approximately 400,000 square feet; the shopping mall is one of the malls in Shanghai with the most flagship stores.
Henderson 688 is a property situated at the prestigious Nanjing Road West in Jingan District. The project is located at the heart of Shanghai City Centre, extends in all directions with convenient transportation. Designed by internationally renowned Japanese architect Tange Associates, it has an aesthetic “progressive staircase” design and a glittering facade from many perspectives. It has a total gross floor area of approximately 85,000 square meters.
“Since the pandemic, ‘feeling good’ has taken on a different meaning. Simple goals such as staying healthy, both physically and mentally, have moved to the forefront of the global consciousness, and we, here at Peace, are looking to make lives better through technology and place-making. Peace Pods act like an oasis in the desert, a private sanctuary where you can just spend a moment with yourself, or with a couple of friends,” said Sharon Chen, Peace’s Vice President of Go To Market.
“Peace is a win-win-win-win-win for people, employers, landlords, governments and the environment,” said Chris Brooke, Peace advisor, Independent Non-Executive Director of Link Asset Management Ltd., and former Executive Managing Director, Consulting, Asia Pacific at CBRE.
“People win through enhanced flexibility and the more efficient use of time. Everyone needs peace and quiet sometimes. People appreciate being able to access private space when they need it, for work, focus, play, relaxing, or social time. People also win because more privacy means better mental health. Employers win because with the hybrid working model employees feel happier and more productive.” Mr. Brooke continued.
“Landlords win because Peace literally converts unused space into a destination space, enhancing the utilization rate and user-friendliness of the building. At a minimum, Peace solves the common problem of small meeting rooms being fully occupied. It also offers a convenient solution to people needing a drop-down space in between meetings and other commitments. Landlords also have the option to integrate Peace into their core tenant offerings, supporting their core office tenants adopting hybrid workspace strategies,” he added.
Mr. Brooke concluded “Governments win because many cities expend huge resources to shift work from the downtown core to other areas. Peace helps make such strategies more effective by making buildings more user friendly. The environment wins because less inter-city traveling means less carbon, and better utilization of buildings means less need for new buildings.”
