Technology firm Intel will be moving forward with a flexible work model as the pandemic subsides. However, employees are still being encouraged to return to the office for some of the time. 

An internal memo showed that Intel wants employees to return to the office as cases of Covid-19 drop and cited the 90% vaccination rate of its staff.

According to a LinkedIn post from the company’s Chief People Officer Christy Pambianchi, Intel will approach their work arrangements to consider “the specific needs of different business units, teams, employees and geographies, and the different work each of us do throughout the year.” 

In an April 2021 internal survey, 90% of Intel employees said they would prefer a hybrid model once offices reopened.

Last December, a memo from Pambianchi revealed that Intel planned to give unvaccinated employees the ability to submit an exception request by early January or face being put on unpaid leave. However, after the Supreme Court struck down the Biden administration’s vaccination or test mandate for large companies, Intel paused this policy. 

The tech industry has led much of the global workforce in adopting flexible work arrangements. However, each company is taking their own unique approach, revealing that there is no one-size-fits-all to the future of work, highlighting the importance of employee feedback during this transition.
