Despite waning confidence in its metaverse efforts, Meta is pushing forth with technological advancements that it claims can guide the future of work.Â
During its Meta Connect 2022 event, the company announced that its new Meta Quest Pro is now available for around $1,500 and includes controllers, a charging dock and light blockers.  Â
Meta says that the virtual reality headset comes with new features, such as eye tracking, mixed-reality immersion, LCD displays and a new Fit Adjustment for comfortable wear.Â
Although VR has largely been tied to the gaming world, Meta believes that its products can help usher in the new future of work — one that remains largely virtual and relies on modern tools for collaboration. Â
This announcement comes on the heels of shareholders and critics alike scrutinizing the company’s commitment to the metaverse. Many claim that Meta is burning through cash during a time when the economy is on the brink of a recession, suggesting a grim future for the social media platform-turned-technology conglomerate. Â
