Coworking operator Industrious has announced it will open a new location within The Mall at Short Hills, a trend that is being seen more and more within the commercial real estate sector.
The firm’s first New Jersey location will take up 30,000 square feet of space left behind by Saks Fifth Avenue. It will offer members access to private offices, coworking, free printing, events, and a communal environment.
Malls are an ideal spot for coworking spaces thanks to being within close proximity to restaurants, fitness centers, bars, cafes, and other amenities that typically professionals look for when seeking the perfect workspace.
“The mall itself is obviously very attractive and filled with some great, great brands that are on par with Industrious, and very consistent from an overall brand perspective,” said Barry Shaw, Industrious’ northeast regional manager. “All that together is a recipe for business.”
Although many flexible office providers have started delving into retail fronts, Industrious is seen as the pioneer of the trend. Just last August, major mall operator Macerich announced a partnership with Industrious to open its coworking spaces across multiple mall properties.
