Nearly half of technology executives believe their organizations are not adequately prepared for the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and other advanced technologies. This notion stems from a recent survey commissioned by Celonis which included 1,217 senior business leaders — of which 300 respondents lead IT departments.Â
According to a recent analysis of the data published by ZD Net, the survey reveals that 81% believe IT is capable of supporting business at the required speed. However, 68% of executives said that any less-than-ideal processes will likely hold back the successful implementation of AI and other emerging technologies in the next two years.Â
This data reveals an important aspect for the future of work: the need for organizations to refine their IT processes in order to harness the full potential of AI and other advanced technologies. The survey identified key processes essential for moving forward with these technologies, including asset management, cybersecurity, software development, and user experience.Â
As the survey indicates, top factors driving process optimization include the desire to harness emerging technologies like AI, reduce costs, and respond to competitive pressures. With 55% of IT processes running optimally, there is still considerable room to improve — suggesting that these efforts will not only persist but also intensify next year. As organizations strive to optimize their IT processes in 2024 it will also contribute to the increase in demand for skills related to these key areas. Professionals with expertise in AI, cybersecurity, software development, and IT processes will also be in demand. Â
