Research and advisory firm Info-Tech Research Group has released the findings of its 2022 trends report, which highlights how to support IT workers in the new normal.  

According to the “IT Talent Trends 2022” report of IT workers from across 12 countries and 18 industries, prioritizing the employee experience, no matter their level, will be crucial in maintaining top talent in the future. Those who fall behind these trends will struggle to attract and retain workers.

Improving the employee experience starts from the recruiting process. As the world enters into a seemingly post-pandemic society, more and more jobs will become available. 

Professionals continue to participate in the Great Resignation and new jobs are listed, meaning there is an increased confidence in the economy’s stability. Now, rather than operating in survival mode, companies are now focusing on actual business growth.

To do so, one of the biggest lessons leaders need to take from the last two years is the adoption of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies. Not only is it necessary for a better employee experience, IT companies can make a meaningful impact on society by improving their DEI strategies.  

However, the report showed that just 33% of organizations had provided DEI training in the past year. 

Like most organizations today, navigating what work arrangements will look like after largely operating remotely for two years has been a struggle. But one thing remains clear: remote work is here to stay. With this, the 23% of leaders who remain neutral or attempt to go back to pre-pandemic norms will face immense hurdles. 

As a result of remote work, IT managers will also need to adjust their skills in order to optimize and connect distributed teams.
