Professional chef Herbert Obrecht and his son Andrew have launched a coworking-style kitchen in Calgary — Coworking Culinary — to help local chefs kick-start their culinary careers and businesses.
The venture will enable entrepreneurs in the food business to save on the overhead costs by sharing space, equipment, and expertise. The new 360 sq metre (3,875 sq ft) industrial kitchen provides ovens, walk-in coolers, freezers, gas ranges, barbecues, and more.
“I think the culinary community really needs to stick together. A rising tide raises all ships,” said co-founder Andrew Obrecht.
The space is run on a membership scheme with hourly rates for use of the space and storage.
