A new survey from ratings and reviews company Clutch has found that smaller, local coworking spaces are gaining traction to dethrone WeWork as the most popular coworking space.
Despite the coworking giant’s issues over the past few months, the company still employs 39% of coworking employees. Still, local coworking companies are fast-approaching at 36%.
“I think the smaller, local coworking spaces will overtake WeWork,” said Andrew Schuh, marketing specialist at Focus Property Group, which owns Enterprise Coworking. “You can’t stop that kind of momentum [that coworking spaces have].”
The appeal of these spaces is likely due to local coworking companies being heavily involved with their communities. Additionally, most workers and businesses tend to stay dedicated with their coworking spaces. In fact, the study finds that 75% of coworking employees have been at their current coworking space for at least one year.
