Instagram is taking its efforts to compete with TikTok even further by incorporating a new feature that mirrors the short-form video social media app. Â
Currently, Instagram is experimenting with a full-screen mode for its feed, as well as updating its navigation bar to enhance the immersive nature of its platform. Â
So far, the test has been rolled out to a limited number of users. For those users, videos can be viewed in full screen as they scroll through their feed, while descriptions, the favorite button, and comments are along the bottom. Â
This isn’t the first time Instagram has delved into this territory either. Just last month, it began experimenting with a new design that would put emphasis on its videos, but did not make them full-screen. Â
Various social media platforms have become aware of TikTok’s domination in the industry and have introduced new designs to remain relevant. In Instagram’s case, it appears to be pivoting away from its core of photos and looking to grow where demand lies: in videos.Â
